USC 1 “Universal Simple Control” Specification
The USC-1 offers
simplicity in setup, installation, and performance in a cost effective
universal voltage regulator control for applications not requiring remote communications
capabilities such as line voltage regulators. It offers an economically attractive alternative
to continuing the repair of existing analog regulator control, particularly where distribution
system changes now present the possibility of loop feeds. With its advanced technology,
USC-1 has
reverse power flow capabilities as well as .5% metering accuracy over a range of -40°C to +85°C.
The USB data port can be used to either program settings into the
USC-1 with a pc or to capture
up to 12 months of events and metered data onto an
1GB ICMI Flash Drive DATA-PAK in monthly files.
The application of this technology is designed to operate over
-40°C to +85°C. The
USC-1 Universal Simple Control is a microprocessor-based single-phase tap changer voltage
regulator control configured from the front panel using either a menu card and keypad or a laptop
computer with set-up software. The USC-1 can be retrofitted onto all popular single-phase step
voltage regulators with differences in regulator types (i.e. operation counters, neutral polarity,
holding switch) easily addressed with USC 1 hardware and setup program options. The
USC-1 has
been tested and is certified as being compliant with ANSI-IEEE RFI-SWC C-37.90-1&2 (2002-2004 RF
Standards) by the AEP-Dolan Tech Center in Columbus, OH.

The USC-1 front panel USB Port can be used to Program Control and input software revisions as features
or enhancements are added. The main CPU processing circuit board inside the USC-1 is designed to enable
future change-out expansions with more powerful processors and larger program and data spaces. This provides
a cost-effective upgrade path, insuring the flexibility of the USC-1 and protecting the original investment.
Supplied with each order is a USB Flash Drive and swivel with configuration software and manuals, and USB
driver.
